The Voice alum Morgan Wallen surprised fans by appearing at Luke Bryan’s sold out concert in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30. Before performing, Wallen took a shot along with Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Tyler Hubbard. This came as a surprise to many as Wallen checked into rehab earlier this year after video surfaced of the country singer using a racial slur.

This was Wallen’s first major concert appearance since news broke that he used a racial slur. The 28 year-old singer’s album, Dangerous, was doing very well before the controversy, but did even better afterward. Wallen’s name is huge in the country music world right now, so fans were very excited when he walked on stage.

The Country Stars Take Shots On Stage

Wallen was introduced to the stage by Aldean and Hubbard, who is a part of Florida Georgia Line. Aldean surprised all by mentioning that one of his friends was backstage. Bryan replied “Do I need another tequila shot to get through this?”

Before the question could be answered, Wallen walked out and the crowd went crazy.

Bryan, Aldean, Hubbard, and Wallen made a toast before Wallen’s performance. It was a bit unexpected for Wallen to take the shot with the guys. He recently spoke about his admission to rehab after a video leaked showing him drunkenly saying a racial slur. In the interview, Wallen talked about how he admitted himself to the 30-day rehab program to figure out if his drinking was the reason for his actions.

Talk of Wallen’s sobriety since his rehab stay was not mentioned during the interview, but apparently he decided drinking was not the reason for his use of the slur.

In his guest appearance, Wallen performed his songs “Whiskey Glasses” and “More Than My Hometown.” After seeing a video of fans singing along to his 2019 song, “Whiskey Glasses,” it’s obvious that no one is boycotting this artist after the controversy.

Some Luke Bryan Fans Are Disappointed in Him For his Guest Choice

When scrolling through tweets from this performance, there are a lot of people who are unhappy with Bryan for allowing Wallen to perform at his concert.

“Yeah, I figured Luke Bryan is one of those guys who hears someone say the n-word and doesn’t do anything. He was silent when it all happened with Wallen and now he’s doing this. Not shocked, but still disappointing,” said one fan on Twitter.

Although it seems like Bryan definitely knew about Wallen’s guest appearance, it’s very possible this wasn’t actually in the original plan for the evening. If Bryan knew Wallen was coming on stage, you would think he would’ve had something to say other than “Do I need another tequila shot to get through this?”

Nonetheless, fans are still criticizing Bryan for his choice to have Wallen join him on stage. It really seems as if the entire controversy was just swept under the rug, and has been forgotten about.
