Preacher Lawson is once again bringing his comedy to the Got Talent stage. The comedian is set to return for AGT: Fantasy League next year in an attempt tickle America’s funny bone once again. Let’s get to know him better.
Preacher Lawson Believes that Laughter is the Universal Language
Preacher Lawson first stepped on the America’s Got Talent stage in season 12 where he finished in the bottom five of the Top 10. He then came back for America’s Got Talent: The Champions, ending up in fifth place.
Before reaching age 10, Lawson had already moved 20 times to different places. Hence, at a young age, he learned to adapt to various people and cultures. In doing so, he realized that the language that people had in common was laughter. It is thus through laughter that he was able to communicate and warm up to most people.
While Lawson admits that he wasn’t always the funniest one in every pack, he was still the loudest. For about a year when he was 16, he began writing his jokes. When he reached age 17, he betted with his mother to perform on stage for the first time. After he did, he knew immediately that pursuing comedy was the best decision of his life.
In 2015, he won the Funniest Comedian In Florida. Subsequently, he snatched the 2016 Seattle International Comedy Competition. Yet, his fans do not only admire him for his comedy. Lawson also runs a YouTube channel where he posts travel vlogs, vegan and vegetarian cooking guides. There, he also uploads music videos, all with comedic twist.
He Will Compete on AGT: Fantasy League
As America’s Got Talent launches its newest spinoff Fantasy League, Lawson is up for the challenge. Currently, Lawson was nominated as one of the top 40 acts, sending him through to the Draft Pool.
Indeed, Lawson is no way near retired from his ambition to make people happy. As he continues to do so, he tells others an advice: “Don’t Follow Your Dreams. Lead Them.”
If you want to witness Preacher Lawson’s journey on the spinoff, be sure to tune in on the show. America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League premieres Monday, Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will stream the next day on Peacock.
