American Idol judge Katy Perry is heading to Saturday Night Live to perform as the musical guest. This is Perry’s fourth time on the SNL stage, and she’ll be giving fans a taste of her new Las Vegas show.

Perry will be this Saturday’s musical guest, joining host Willem Dafoe. The singer was previously a musical guest on the show in 2010, 2013, and 2017. She also hosted the show in 2011. It would be fun to see her appear in a sketch or two this time.

Perry posted about the upcoming appearance on Instagram last week, teasing fans with what they might expect from the performance. “Live from New York, it’s PLAY,” she wrote. “Can’t wait to bring my slice of Sin City to the Big Apple.” The singer is referring to her Las Vegas residency show, titled Play, which kicked off at the end of December.

What Songs Will Perry Perform on the Show?

Musical guests on Saturday Night Live traditionally perform two songs during the show. Perry revealed in her interview with Elvis Duran that one of those songs will be “When I’m Gone,” her new track with Alesso. It’s not clear what the other song will be.

The singer will have plenty of tracks to choose from, including classics like “Teenage Dream” and “Roar,” as well as more recent releases. Perry put out her last album Smile in 2020, and she also released the song “Electric” last year as part of the Pokémon 25 album.

Perry told Duran that it’s an “honor” to be returning to SNL, calling it a “little Super Bowl.” She added, “You kind of just want to absorb it and take it in and do what they say, because what they say is usually best.”
