Christina Aguilera Releases 2022 Version of “Beautiful”

Back in the 2000s when Christina Aguilera issued the global music hit, “Beautiful,” she reminded everybody that self-love shouldn’t be undermined. A couple of decades later, Aguilera is genuinely retelling this truth. On October 19, the singer released a modern version of its music video.

“We are Beautiful, no matter what they say,” she wrote as caption of her Instagram announcement. “A message I will always stand by and a message I prioritize to instill in my own children through every chapter of their lives!”

In addition, “Beautiful” is Aguilera’s entry for World Mental Health Day. The new version shows young women applying heavy makeup and finding angles for selfies. Meanwhile, boys are depicted getting pressured by bodybuilders.

According to Aguilera, the social media community has infiltrated feeds and minds with confusing content, leading people to disregard their truth and lower self-worth. Thus, the need to bring awareness and foster compassion. She addressed this issue through the music video, reflecting today’s reality.

“Beautiful” is Socially Awakening, Emotionally Empowering

One unsettling yet satisfying scene in the video was when girls preparing for a cosmetic surgery retracted from their decision. This particular moment sends a powerful message about mental health.

“Beautiful” is an emotionally moving audio-visual, one that sends across a note that we should prioritize mental health. In the age of social media, young kids believe the notion that complying with unrealistic standards is an ultimatum.

By releasing the music video, Aguilera intends to reiterate that one can be beautiful, regardless of how they look. At the end of the video, a text appeared in front of a mobile phone where blood spills out from it.

“Research suggests that time spent on social networking sites is associated with body image issues, self-harm, and disordered eating in children and teens,” the text reads. “This needs to change,”

Subsequently, the “No Es Que Te Extrañe” singer provided a link to her website. Such contains a list of information and resources regarding mental health.

On Instagram, Aguilera expressed her gratitude to the individuals who participated in the production of the music video.
