TikTok star Charli D’Amelio is celebrating a new beginning with the release of her debut single “If You Ask Me To.” The possibilities seem endless for Charli, from social media personality to reality TV to fan favorite on Dancing With The Stars, she now also has added aspiring singer to her plate.
Charli D’Amelio Releases Debut Song, Music Video
Following the conclusion of The D’Amelio Show on Wednesday, October 26, Charli released her debut song “If You Ask Me To,” and subsequently a music video as well. As a result, she revealed that her father encouraged her to pursue singing. Fans were shocked to learn that she began recording music earlier this year.
“I felt that with so many other people entering the music space, there wasn’t room for me,” Charli said. “However with my dad’s encouragement, I got into the studio at the beginning of this year just to pursue singing as a hobby.”
“If You Ask Me To,” is one of the first tracks she wrote and recorded, instantly becoming her favorite. Charli changed up the lyrics of the song for the next few months and she finally released it when it was perfected.

For a debut single, “If You Ask Me To,” is a solid beginning to Charli’s musical ventures. I truly believe her debut single is foreshadowing an amazing music career, if she decides to pursue it. The song itself does not feature any soaring vocals but soft and soulful singing instead.
The release was accompanied by a music video directed by Andrew Sandler. The video details the teenage story of experiencing heartbreak along with the struggles that come with it. Charli acts as the lead in the video whose lover left her for someone else.
The lyrics go along with the theme of the music video almost perfectly. Detailing a singer expressing her desire to be together with a lover that’s moved on from their relationship. The meaning can truly be felt in the chorus when Charli sings, “I’d come running if you asked me to.”
Overall, the song is a great listen, and Charli catches all the emotional feelings through her singing. I can’t wait to hear more of her music in the near future.
