Britain’s Got Talent Series 16 continued over the weekend, as judge Bruno Tonioli hit a second Golden Buzzer, this time for a talented singer named Gamal John. His soulful audition was so impressive, the show allowed Tonioli to break the rules.
Bruno Tonioli Hits Second Golden Buzzer on BGT
Gamal told the judges that he was born in Trinidad but grew up in London. He said that his oldest son encouraged him to audition for the show. Gamal then launched into an incredible performance of “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown.
The singer earned a standing ovation from the panel and the crowd for his audition. Tonioli said he was “gobsmacked” and “speechless” over Gamal’s talent. Meanwhile, Alesha Dixon expressed regret that she couldn’t hit the Golden Buzzer for him. (She already gave the honor to Chickenshed.)
However, that didn’t stop Tonioli, who previously hit the Golden Buzzer for Ghetto Kids. The audience chanted for the Golden Buzzer, and Tonioli answered the call, shocking his fellow judges. Unfortunately, because all of the Golden Buzzers were supposed to be used up this season, there was no gold confetti.

The Judges React to Tonioli Breaking the Rules
“We are about to get fired,” Simon Cowell said into the microphone after Tonioli broke the rules. “Having said that, Bruno is a new judge, and if you give something, you can’t take it away.”
The judges admitted that they all wanted to press the Golden Buzzer for Gamal. Cowell called it “a masterclass.” When Gamal’s son ran up on the stage to be with him, Cowell told him he has “a very cool dad.”
That’s when hosts Ant and Dec ran out on stage with confetti cannons so Gamal could have his celebratory moment. The singer is now headed straight to the Semifinals.
And that’s not the end of the Golden Buzzers. Cowell teased that eight acts received the honor this year, as he decided to follow Tonioli’s lead and do it a second time. We’ll have to wait and see which act he chose.
