Meet Sam Wills, The Man Behind Tape Face
Sam Wills is the comedic genius behind the world-famous stage persona Tape Face. He gained popularity as a fan favorite during his appearances on AGT Season 11 in 2016, showcasing his unique brand of prop comedy and mime routines.
The 45-year-old got his start in entertainment at just 12, when he approached a clown in his neighborhood and asked to become his apprentice. This kicked off his career, as he later attended circus school to study juggling and acrobatics.

Seeking a change of pace, he devised the Tape Face character as a contrast to his previous over-the-top antics. Tape Face auditioned for AGT in 2016 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his hilarious, quirky routines. One video of his performances has over 40 million YouTube views. He made it all the way to the finals without speaking a single word, as clips of his iconic interactions with Mel B and other judges live on.
Though he didn’t win the season, Tape Face succeeded in building a whole new fanbase in the US. He said American audiences push him to improve his comedy even more due to their knowledge of the art form. He now headlines his own Las Vegas show called House of Tape when he’s not touring internationally.
