The Voice made a big announcement on Tuesday, as it was revealed that former coach Adam Levine will be returning to the show for the season finale. And it looks like he’s reuniting with his bestie Blake Shelton.
Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high, because Levine isn’t returning as a coach. Instead, he’ll be performing with his band Maroon 5. But we’re sure there will be plenty of backstage fun to witness as well.
Adam Levine Returns to ‘The Voice’
The Voice posted a video on social media announcing Levine’s return to the show. In the clip, the singer rocks pink hair and a colorful shirt as he talks to Shelton outside the studio. A camera crew can be seen surrounding the pair, meaning their conversation will likely air on the show.
Levine was a coach on The Voice for 16 seasons before announcing his departure from the show in 2019. He and Shelton developed a bromance that was beloved by fans, so it’s exciting to see them back together, even if it’s just for one episode.
According to Billboard, Levine and his band Maroon 5 will take the stage during the Season 20 finale, along with Megan Thee Stallion, to perform their new song “Beautiful Mistakes.”

What Does Levine Think About His Big Return?
“It’s good to be back on The Voice and see Carson, Kelly, Nick, and John,” Levine told Billboard in a statement, purposely leaving Shelton’s name off the list. It’s all part of their funny friendship, which will likely be on full display when Levine returns.
Levine recently joked about not supporting Shelton’s engagement to fellow The Voice coach Gwen Stefani, telling Ellen DeGeneres that he might stand up and object during their wedding. He added, “I probably won’t be invited now that I’m saying this on live television. But I’ll be there somehow.”
You can catch Maroon 5’s performance during the Season 20 finale on Tuesday, May 25, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
