Carrie Underwood has been dominating the country charts since winning Season 4 of American Idol in 2005. She is currently celebrating the nine-year anniversary of her epic “Blown Away” album, which debuted in the top spot on the Billboard 200 in 2012. Underwood’s hits from this album have withstood the test of time and are still blasted through car radios and performed on talent competition shows regularly.

Carrie Underwood’s ‘Blown Away’ Album is Still Iconic Nine Years Later

This 14 song album had four songs that ended up changing country music forever. Let’s take a look back at these iconic bops and unlock memories of us probably singing along into our hairbrush in our childhood bedrooms.

1. “Good Girl”

One of the biggest hits to come out of the Blown Away album is the song “Good Girl.” This song peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. This marked Underwood’s 12th Top 20 hit. It also topped the Hot Country Songs chart. The music video for “Good Girl” is full of the most amazing high-fashion looks for this Oklahoma girl and shows off the many sides of her personality that fans fell in love with during her American Idol days.

We got to see everything from Underwood at a glamourous tea party to her strutting around in a sexy black blazer and shorts ensemble with black stockings. The “Good Girl” music video went on to win “Video of the Year” at the CMT Music Awards. Underwood not only established herself as a hitmaking songstress but a total fashion icon too.

2. “Blown Away”

Picture this: It’s 2012. You have your fan on full blast and you stand in front of it to give yourself a Beyonce hair moment. It’s raining outside and “Blown Away” is blaring on your iPod Nano. Even thinking about this song is just pure bliss.

What would the Blown Away album be without the song of the same name that took a darker turn than what we were so used to seeing from Underwood? The song and the music video are about a young girl who escapes her alcoholic father while a storm is headed their way. It earned her two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance.

3. “Two Black Cadillacs”

“Two Black Cadillacs” is another song off of Blown Away that has a very dark undertone. Underwood wears all black in the music video as she finds out her man is cheating on her. She decides to kill him and the video is centered around the mans funeral.

This is not the typical happy, feel-good anthem that Underwood has released in the past. But it is super cool to see her acting and showing versatility with this song and music video. She sang an acoustic version of “Two Black Cadillacs” at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards.

4. “See You Again”

Underwood actually debuted “See You Again” where her career began. She performed on Season 12 of American Idol with the Top 5 contestants including Gabby Barrett. It’s no surprise here that this song earned Underwood her 18th Top 10 single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

“See You Again” is the definition of a power ballad. It explores how people pass away but we never truly lose them because they stay with us forever. The lyric “this is not where it ends” is powerful and listening to this song again will probably get your tears flowing. The music video won Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards.
